1. Do not use in a humid environment, do not immerse in water, and avoid measuring corrosive liquids to prevent damage to the instrument.
2. The instrument should be stored in a dry, well-ventilated environment and should be protected from strong vibrations or impacts.
3. Open the light cover of the refractometer, and carefully clean the surface of the refracting prism with a soft cloth or filter paper.
4. Place a few drops of the solution to be tested on the surface of the refracting prism, close the light cover, and press it gently with your finger. Once the solution cools to room temperature, tilt the light cover slightly upward toward a light source or bright area. Adjust the eyepiece focusing wheel to clearly see the boundary line in the viewfinder, then read the scale value corresponding to the light and dark boundary, which is the sugar content of the solution. To calibrate the refractometer, first test the refractive index of distilled water at 20°C. The boundary line should read 0%. If not, adjust the correction nut until the scale reads zero.
5. After use, clean the instrument with a soft cloth or filter paper to prevent any residue from affecting the accuracy of future measurements.
